The Hispano Suiza supercar roars back

Erwin Leo Himmel is a world renowned automotive engineer who has a dream to revive the Hispano-Suiza dream car. This car was once beloved by Picasso and pre-war European monarchs. Back in the 1920s or 1930s era, if you are a discerning automotive enthusiast then your choice wasn't  Rolls-Royce or Bugatti but Hispano-Suiza.

As a favorite vehicle of Spain monarchs, members of the Rothschild family and Picasso, the Spain-Swiss autonotive company is also admired for its luxury and elegance. So that makes other rival car makers such as Rolls-Royce to make certain parts under license from HS to use in their cars like the Phantom and Wraith.

Indeed, after World War II was over practically nothing else production car that carries the Hispano-Suiza name, because the company is moving the field of aerospace design and manufacturing business. Nowadays it exists as a subsidiary of French aerospace group, Safran.

What is seen here is a dream project of Erwin Leo Himmel, a former Audi engineer who wants to launch a Hispano Suiza XIOV (without hyphens) as an elite sporting model. Based in Barcelona and operating under the company name Delmar 04, he imagined making only 20-25 cars per year, which will be sold for €700,000 (or approx U.S. $958,000).

The suspension is all uniquely Hispano Suiza XIOV and the center-lock 22-inch wheels are forged of an aluminum-titanium alloy and shod in Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires, sized 275/25 in front, 295/25 in back.

Customers can choose a six-speed manual or auto-clutch manual. Supplying the power to all four corners is a 5.2-liter V-10 modified by Motoren Technik Mayer (MTM), and fitted with twin electric superchargers that, along with other modifications, boost output to 739 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. That's enough to launch the car to 100 kph (62 mph) in 3.4 seconds and onward to a top speed of 339.57 kph (211 mph).
This version is set to feature an extra 148 bhp electric motor powering the front wheels, in a move that will satisfy a maniac and moralistas the same, you can cruise through town on just the electric motor, then let all the 888 hp loose as you hit the open road (or perhaps race personal horse, if you want to get anywhere near the best of it).. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | HISPANO SUIZA | DAILYMAIL| AUTOBLOG]
