NASA discovered a mysterious object on Mars

Recently NASA's Curiosity, a rover robot that placed in Mars capture an image of iron meteorite in the land of the red planet. NASA named the mysterious object with the name of Lebanon.

As reported by The Register on Thursday, July 17, 2014, the Lebanon meteorite found by the Curiosity seemed buried in the Martian sand. The robot which is worth billions of dollars, managed to capture an meteorite image with a width of two meters on May 25, 2014.

To take the picture, Curiosity rely on nuclear energy-based technologies, called Chemistry and Camera (ChemCam). This NASA robot also utilizes Mast Camera (Mastcam) to determine the color and contrast levels on a meteorite body.

Latest, NASA is studying and analyzing the material forming the iron meteorite. "The pictur shows the angle-shaped cavity on the surface of the stone. One possible explanation is that this object is generated from a special joint erosion in the metal crystal boundary stone," said NASA scientist.

Furthermore, scientists say, the cavity in this meteorite contains olivine crystals, which can be found on a rare type of meteorite called 'pallasites'. In 2005, NASA's Opportunity similar meteorite ever found lying on the sand dunes of Mars. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | THE REGISTER]

In May 2014 Factor Aurelio Automobile (FAA), a local company founded by two young Philippines engineers has been displaying their first supercar concept named Aurelio in the biggest local auto show, Trans Sport Show 2014.

Now, the production version has been completed and claimed to be a first Filipino supercar, or it could also be the first in Southeast Asia. The FAA was founded by Kevin Factor, a 21-year-old engineering student and Aurelio Brendan, the owner of Pacita Fibertech (a local car custom manufacturing).

Their 2-door sport coupe armed with either a Mitsubishi 4G63T 2.0 liter turbo intercooled DOHC 16-valve engine or a Honda B16A DOHC VTEC 16-valve motor. By adopting a similar design of European supercar. The aerodynamic factors make angled and flat appearance to pursue a lower center of gravity. Further, the biggest advantage of this supercar design derived from the lightweight handmade chassis.

"We were only planning to make 10 units, so the value of this car can be maintained. If we produce more, the car will lose value because it is not unique anymore," said Factor to Top Gear Philippines at the auto show. FAA predicts, that Aurelio supercar price is approximately 1.6 million pesos, or about Rp. 428 million.
Until now there has been no official statement about the car performance data. But according to many people, for the supercar level, the engine choice does not seem too powerfull. But when looked from the specification, the Aurelio was similar to Lotus Exige, the British nimble sports car, which rely on an optimal combination of a lightweight body with a small engine or as a supercar although a four-cylinder engine doesn't sound overly impressive and the design sends out a bit of a kit car vibe with some Italian influences. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | WORLDCARFANS]

Scientists say, Discovery of Extraterrestrial life within reach

Scientists of U.S. space agency or National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) said the chances of finding life outside Earth more closely than ever. At a panel discussion which held on Monday, July 14, 2014, several leading NASA scientists describe the agency roadmap to find life and look back at the discoveries that paved the way to it.

While NASA continues to search for life in the solar system, for example, on Mars and on Jupiter's ice moon and Saturn, the panel focused on the search for life beyond the solar system.

Charles Bolden, a former astronaut and NASA Administrator, who opened the discussion by saying "in a very broad universe infinite, impossible just his own man."

One of the major advances in the discovery of the world outside the solar system is the Kepler Space Telescope, which was launched in 2009. Important tool in expanding knowledge of exo planets or planets orbiting stars outside the solar system. This telescope has found most of the 5,000 potential exo planet, 1,700 of them have been confirmed.

Kepler discovery has led scientists to conclude that there may be billions of planets in the galaxy.

A major step in finding extraterrestrial life is a potential satellite launch which conducted a survey of exo planets that transit in 2017, the James Webb Space Telescope in 2018 and Wide Field Infrared Survey Telescope - Telescope Focused on Astrophysics at the beginning of the next decade.

These tools will allow scientists to determine if a planet has exo atmospheric water vapor or carbon dioxide and atmospheric chemicals More.. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | VOA NEWS]

Newest mysterious giant hole in Siberia

Mysterious giant hole was found in a remote area of Siberia. Now scientists are struggling to find scientific answers to these phenomena, in the midst of the many speculations that milling: Is it former lacing meteor crater, nuclear, caused by an UFO, or a sign of global warming.
Shot in the dark ... Is this enormous crater in Siberia the result of a meteorite impact, or a global-warming induced methane gas eruption? (Picture from: http://bit.ly/1wtuGqR)
Seemingly bottomless hole was discovered by a helicopter belonging to the oil and gas industry that flew over the northern regions of Siberia - a region known for devastating events. Interestingly, the place where the crater was found is Yamal - which means 'end of the world' - in the Nenets indigenous languages.
Newest Siberian mysterious giant hole location in Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region, about 40 kilometers from Bovanenkovo gas field. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/1wtuGqR)
At that location, the most potentially deadly meteor collision in the modern era - the Tunguska Event - occurred on June 30, 1908. Strength reached 1,000 times the Hiroshima atomic bomb. Result was incredible. A total of 80 million trees in an area of 2,000 square miles burned. Fortunately, no casualties. Due to the location of the blast away from the settlement.

However, there is no bright light or explosion that is recorded in the area - which may be the cause of the formation of the crater. According to the Siberian sites Times, that the existence of the hole first known by the helicopter passengers. Konstantin Nikolaev, an engineer who happened to be passing there, then record and upload the video on YouTube. According to witnesses, the hole big enough to get into their Mi8 helicopters, which has a length of 18 meters without touching the edges.

Since the video was uploaded onto the internet crater and spread, virtual world filled with rumors and speculation. Some suspect the hole homemade UFO, a secret door to the depths of the Earth. Or some people thought it was a weapons test site or a meteorite impact scars.

"We can state with certainty, it is not the result of a meteorite," said a spokesman for the Russian Emergencies Ministry, as quoted by News.com.au on Wednesday, July 16, 2014. According to Anna Kurchatova, a Russian scientist from Sub-Arctic Scientific Research Centre believe that the cause is something more logical, like global warming.

Moreover, the frozen soil in Siberia - or permafrost - contains millions of tons of methane gas. As the surface is gently warmed, the gas is released into the air began. A mixture of water, salt and gas may have triggered an underground explosion and trigger the formation of holes. Another possibility is a gas bag may build enough pressure to trigger outbreaks, such as the Champagne corks.
"A team of scientists sent to investigate the hole and will arrive at the site on Wednesday (local time)," as reported by the Siberian Times. Members of the expedition included the scientists from the Centre for the Study of the Arctic and Cryosphere Institute of the Academy of Sciences, Russia. They will take samples of soil, water, and air at the site to determine the nature and origin of the hole.

The crater is found precisely in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region, about 40 kilometers from Bovanenkovo gas field. Region of the peninsula, which juts into the Arctic waters, is a source of Russian gas that exported to Europe. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | NEWS.COM.AU]
