Pufferfish Mysterious Circle

Mysterious beautiful circular patterns were first discovered by divers on off the coast near Japan seabed in 1995. Some divers even given the name to those formations as "underwater crop circles".
These "mystery circles" are about 7 feet wide and are made by a 5 inch fish. (Picture from: http://www.livescience.com/)
Geometric formations that mysteriously come and go, and for more than a decade nobody knows what makes it. And finally the creator remarkable formations found. Not aliens of course, but a new species of pufferfish. Studies showed the small fish can inflate its body like a balloon which is made the pseudo circle to attract his female partner.

Male fish with fins flapping bother them while swimming in the ocean floor, diluting the sediment and forming an amazing circular pattern. Despite his body size is only 12 cm (5 inch), the fish was able to make the circle formation of about 2 meters (7 feet) in diameter.

When the circle is complete, the female fish come check it out. "If they like it, she will reproduce by the male fish," said Hiroshi Kawase, a curator of the Coastal Branch of Natural History Museum and Institute in Chiba, Japan. But not known exactly what the female fish look for in that circle. "We do not know what the characteristics desired by the female fish of that circle," he said further.
Geometric pattern of the male pufferfish has three features that never seen before. "First, they build mountains and valleys in circular pattern beyond their nest site. Secondly, the male fish adorn this mountain with shell fragments. Thirdly, the male fish accumulate fine sediments to give a different look and color," said Kawase.

Surprisingly, the male fish accumulate fine sediments using a circular pattern itself. It took 7-9 days for the male pufferfish to build that circle and the fish do not maintain this formation when underwater currents remove it. The research was published in July 2013 issues of the Scientific Reports journal. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | LIVESCIENCE | ERWIN Z | KORAN TEMPO 4363]
