Men Will be Extinct 5 Million Years from Now?

Life of men on this earth just had its time, "said Professor Jenny Graves, a lecturer at Canberra University in a speech at the Australian Academy of Science last week (Tuesday, April 2, 2013). Within five million years from now, Graves predicts the men will be extinct.

According to Graves, the condition was caused by the natural fragility of the Y chromosome that belongs to the male human species. Compare with the X chromosome, women-owned which contains 1,000 or more healthy genes. In addition, female gender have two X chromosomes.

Based on the history of hundreds of millions years ago while the Y chromosome experiencing collapse. Now, only less than 100 genes that left in modern humans. This includes the SRY gene, which determines whether the embryo male or female.

Graves, also said the chromosomes in females are able to switch places and improve themself. In contrast with the male chromosome, "This is a wonderful example of what I call a stupid design. An accident of evolution," she said.

Somewhat contradictory to the opinion of Professor Robin Lovell-Badger a sex chromosomes expert at the National Institute for Medical Research in London in response to the Graves opinion, he explained that the Y chromosome will last up to the next 25 million year. "So, do not be too worried," he said.

Similarly opinion of Professor Chris Mason, from University College London with more optimistic opinion. According to him, five or six million years in the future where are mankind was able to make drugs to keep pace with the Y chromosome.

Graves explained, when the Y chromosome became extinct, the other chromosome is able to take on the role. "This leads to the creation of a new human species," she said. Precedent for this has already happened to Japanese amamy spiny mice are able to survive despite losing their Y chromosome.

What makes a man a man?
The testis determining factor or TDF is known to determine whether an animal will arrive male or female. The TDF creates the cascading pathway by which an animal becomes male, activating the formation of testes, causing production of the hormone testosterone, crafting muscles, hair and other man-like features.

The sex chromosomes in humans and other mammals are the Xs and the Ys. Recent observations of XO and XXY individuals made it clear that sex was determined by something on the Y chromosome.

Then more recently, genetic mapping, staining, painting, PCR and many other forms of gene identifying advancements confirmed the presence of the SRY gene, otherwise known as the TDF on the Y chromosome. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | DAILYMAIL | KORAN TEMPO 4194]
