Nothing is Faster than the Light?

The ICARUS research team, led by the Nobel Prize-winning physicist Carlo Rubbia have conducted retest on neutrinos and found that neutrinos move no faster than the speed of light.

Previously on September 2011, the researcher team of Oscillation Project with Emulsion-Tracking Apparatus (OPERA) found that neutrinos exceeding the speed of light (300,000 km / sec). Neutrinos are elementary particles with very little mass. These particles are created from the radioactive decay, fusion reactions occurring in the sun or a nuclear reactor or when cosmic rays hit the group of atoms.

In research conducted at the Gran Sasso National Laboratory, Italy, at a depth of 1,400 meters, the researchers tested neutrinos fired from the Laboratory of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), in Switzerland. The OPERA team discovered that neutrinos moving 60 nanoseconds faster than light. Erratic course these findings are so shocking because Albert Einstein declared that no particles moving faster than light. Some researchers doubt these findings and consider the impossible. Many people who mentioned the error, both in instruments and research procedures.

Another research team then tried to do the experiment again to validate the results of OPERA team. One of the efforts to prove was done by the ICARUS team. The ICARUS team conducted experiments using 600 tons-4300 of liquid argon to detect the arrival of neutrinos being sent at a depth of 730 km from CERN.

To reconfirm the results of research, Sandro Centra, spokesman of the ICARUS team, said that the neutrino velocity equal to the speed of light, with little deviation. "Now we are 100 percent sure that the speed of light is the speed of neutrinos," said Centro. Certainly the ICARUS team results make a little relief, especially for those who do not believe the OPERA team results. Now, scientists can believe that Einstein's theory is still undeniable. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES  |THE NEW YORK TIMES | SEPTI | PIKIRAN RAKYAT 31012013]
